ITEM # 610 Mini Decon Geocaching Container

We are a family-owned and operated business and have been geocaching since 2008. One venture we began a few months ago, was to produce a smaller version of the standard Army decon kit container which is one of the standards in the geocaching community.

We completed our design and produced the injection mould in October 2010. In January, we received our first shipment and have sold a limited supply through our online store and directly to our geocaching friends. Now that we've received the feedback that we were looking for, we are ready to proceed with wholesale distribution.

Currently, there are no online geocaching supply stores that have this product in stock. We are seeking a select group of geocaching suppliers that are ready to accept, display and market our new product.

The original decon container know as a Military Personal Decontamination Kit M258A1 (still available in limited supply to the Armed Forces) has been replaced with the M291 and XM90 Kits which are not supplied in this plastic container. These decon kits will become increasingly harder and harder to find in military surplus stores.

As a geocacher myself, I've come across many decon containers in the woods or trails and noticed two issues. One, there are difficult to open especially in cold weather. The other challenge is to properly close the container after logging so that it remains dry inside. I've found too many containers cracked open and full of water because the previous cacher could not close it completely.

We've solved that problem by slightly adjusting the polymers of the Mini Decon lid (the lid only) making the lid more pliable and softer. Yes, they are still just as airtight at the original decons. The lids are no longer attached to the container with a piece of material. The lids have a built "tab" on both sides to make it easy to pop open.

Many locations are becoming harder and harder to hide a standard decon container. The Mini Decon geocache is about 33% smaller in size and it will fit places that a standard decon will not. These Mini-Decon geocache containers measure 2½" x 3¼" x 1½".

These "cute" Mini-Decon geocaching containers are similar in shape and purpose but are approximately 25% smaller in size.

They are manufactured using the same materials as the original M258A1 to withstand severe weather and abuse. They've been tested in temperatures from 110°F to -10°F below and are also water-resistant in normal outdoor conditions just like the original decons.

Instead of the cloth loop and strange metal clip on the back of the original M258A1 Decon containers, the new Mini-Decons have a single 3/8" square loop on the back so you can incorporate your own specific securing method.

The Mini-Decons are "pre-camouflaged" in three different colors. All of them start with a base "Black" color with either a Brown Mustard, Evergreen, or Steel Wool blended into each one. These colors are NOT painted on, they are blended in with the Black plastic during the injection process. No container is alike.
